Meet Miss Demi
My name is Demi Alimena, and I’m from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in the USA. Before you trust me with teaching your kids/grandkids/nieces or nephews, or if you’re an adult learner learning with me, I’m sure you would love to know a little bit more about myself.
I graduated cum laude from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, English Language Arts, and Special Education. Additionally, I received my TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). While at Bloomsburg, I also played rugby. After graduating, I taught Learning Support and English as an Additional Language in Germany and Spain, where I completed my Orton-Gillingham certification and strengthened my ability to support students with dyslexia, ADHD, and autism in building classroom success and confidence.
Since then, I have worked virtually with students worldwide through various online tutoring platforms and have now launched my own tutoring business. Working independently allows me to better understand each student’s learning style, build stronger relationships, and make a greater impact on their growth and confidence.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy going to the gym, snowboarding, traveling, and reading a good book with a cup of coffee. I’m excited to meet students from around the world and help them thrive in ways they may not have thought possible.

Why Orton-Gillingham?
The Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching literacy is a method of teaching that helps children learn how words work instead of simply memorizing them.
Orton-Gillingham encourages careful planning in order to ensure that each lesson is catered to every learners’ unique learning styles and pace. We practice phonics, reading, writing, and spelling with hands-on activities that build lifelong skills.
This approach is widely recognized as one of the most effective methods for supporting students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning disabilities. However, it also benefits any student who needs a little support to gain more confidence in these areas.

MY TUTORING PHILOSOPHY
My goal is not only to help students improve academically but also to help them discover that learning can be enjoyable, empowering, and something they look forward to.
I believe that every student has the ability to succeed when they are taught in a way that matches how they learn best. My goal is to create a learning environment where students feel confident, supported, and excited to learn.
Many students come to tutoring feeling frustrated or unsure of themselves. That's why I focus on building confidence first. By celebrating progress, encouraging a growth mindset, and creating a positive relationship, students become more willing to take risks and challenge themselves.
No two students learn the same way. Getting to know each student's strengths, challenges, interests, and learning style is critical to success. Lessons are personalized to meet their individual goals.
In my experience students learn best when lessons are interactive, encouraging, and enjoyable. Incorporating games, movement, visuals, technology, and activities connected to each student's interest keeps them motivated and engaged.
I make sure to include lots of laughs and memories along their learning journey so students look forward to tutoring each week. When students enjoy learning, they become more confident, participate more actively, and make lasting progress.

Both of my daughters have had such a positive experience with Ms. Demi.
Daughter, age 11, really appreciates how Ms. Demi helps her when she comes across a word she doesn’t know how to pronounce, taking the time to explain it in a way she understands. Demi worked virtually with my daughter to support her English reading and spelling skills. We are a primarily English speaking household; however, my children attend Spanish public school. We were in search of an Orton Gillingham trained tutor to help improve her English reading skills. Demi responded quickly when I reached out to her to inquire about tutoring.
